What the DNA of old Norwegian potatoes reveal

This article (in Norwegian) reports the results of DNA analysis of some 140 old Norwegian and Nordic varieties of potato. This has thrown up some surprises where some Norwegian varieties are identical to well known old UK varieties such as Early Rose, Arran Victory, King Edward and Foula Red. However, a potato grown as Sharpe’s Express isn’t the same as the British variety of the same name –  my Dad actually grew Sharpe’s Express during the last world war!
