Edible plants in the Reykjavik Botanical Gardens

On 6th September 2015 I toured several gardens in south west Iceland with Auður Ingibjörg Ottesen. She and her husband produce the wonderful Icelandic gardening magazine, Sumarhúsinu og garðinum (Summerhouse and Garden; see https://www.facebook.com/sumarhusidoggardurinn?fref=nf).

The first stop was a tour of the Botanical Garden in Reykjavík and the director Hjörtur Þorbjörnsson had kindly agreed to meet us. The garden had changed and expanded a lot since I last visited in 1994! This gave me a lot of inspiration for today’s talk about permaveggies that should be possible to grow in Iceland and I saw several of the plants in my book! The link will take you to an album of pictures, mainly of edible plants in the garden!
