A great first day in Iceland meeting new friends on the premises of the Horticultural Society of Iceland – a diverse crowd of knowledgeable Icelanders and a few other nationalities. My host is a dynamic and lovely person – Auður Ingibjörg Ottesen of the Icelandic gardening magazine Sumarhúsið & garðurinn – thanks also to Hildur Arna Gunnarsdóttir for picking me up and keeping me awake after the flight from Seattle (= coffee)
Auður Ingibjörg Ottesen had made a wonderful edimental display with some of the plants from the book – Hosta, Alium cernuum, Malvas etc. — at Garðyrkjufélag Íslands – stofnað 1885.
