A small flock of waxwings (sidensvans) appeared today and the second fieldfare (gråtrost) didn’t tolerate them trying to steal the apples
A large flock of up to 35 yellowhammers (gulspurv) appreciated me putting out oat flakes (havregryn)
…and this Fieldfare (gråtrost) sat and defended these apples pretty much the whole weekend!
Still going strong at 15 years old!
Indoor forced for an early harvest…
Remember you saw my patented “80-a-day keeps the doctor away diet” here first (and mostly leafy greens, with only small amounts of false vegetables (=fruit) like tomatoes, cucumber and squash ;)
Mainstream is now approaching 10-a-day :)
A small flock of 6 Fieldfares / Gråtost in the garden today…no wonder the apples I was putting out were disappearing so quickly..
Pleasant winter garden visit this week from a students at Fosen Folkehøgskole curious about permaculture, forest gardening and foraging……I don’t think I’ve shown folks around the garden in February before :) Despite the snow there was plenty to forage!
Sunrise of the week :)
Next batch of 60 or so perennials for stratifying :)
Stratifying=cold treatment in the garden in an open to the elements cold frame..
This great spotted woodpecker was playing for me this morning a little trill on the top of the electricity pole :)
Perennial vegetables, Edimentals (plants that are edible and ornamental) and other goings on in The Edible Garden
