My friend Misoni Sandvik who figures in the Aster scaber and Bunias orientalis stories in my book has been back to Korea for the first time and she kindly sent me these seeds :)
Hi Stephen. How did Peucedanum japonicum go for you? I’m curious how hardy this plant is and there’s not much information on it. I’ve planted a few plants that seem to have overwintered here in zone 6-7 in Denmark and am growing out more of them.
I don’t think those seed germinated (old seed probably). I see from my records that I germinated seed of P. japonicum in 2006 but the plants didn’t make it through their first winter.
I also have a plant of Peucedanum japonicum “Hakikomi Fu” (variegated), but I’m not convinced it’s japonicum. It looks very like P. ostruthium “Daphnis”. I’ve not found how to separate these two species botanically.
