A full house of a mixed crowd of all ages, some 70 people, had turned up for my lecture at the Botanical Garden in Oslo despite the beautiful evening (we should have been outside) and the long holiday weekend! Thanks to the Norwegian Botanical Associtation and Natural History Museum for putting on this event and in particular Honorata Gajda.
Back home now after a night on the train…a fantastic week on the road, thanks to all the people who helped along the way….and some 60 books lighter :)
Sowing seed randomly yesterday…the so-called Hailstone method ;)
Otherwise, planted onion sets, seed of root chicories, more carrot, broad bean, quinoa and caraway!
Despite the cool weather, the leaf shoots (taranome) of the small tree Aralia elata (taranoki) are emerging…but I can’t reach them any more….I should cut it down so that young shoots come from the base. These shoots are a common sight in supermarkets in Japan. More in my book Around the World in 80 plants :)

35 perennials mostly from the garden this evening made into a pesto and served with Japanese green pasta that was purchased in a wasabi shop…it didn’t taste of wasabi…
It doesn’t get greener than this ;)
