Ostrich fern pie was the culinary high this week…made with cooked ostrich fern, Allium scorodoprasum, garlic, chili and standard quiche ingredients and a 100% whole grain barley / rye crust and home grown poppy seeds on top! It was delicious :)

Hello there, your barley & rye pastry crust sounds very interesting and the finished product looks wonderful! Assuming your recipe is a closely held secret? (Telsing suggested that I visit: )
Hi Deb and welcome to Edimentals!!
I’ve just adapted a standard pie crust recipe, replacing the white flower with 100% wholegrain rye and barley flour mixed 50-50, mix in the butter until crumbly, add cold water, knead and then just press into the pie pan…(I don’t roll it out first)

Thanks so much Stephen! Love the term “Edimentals” (on so many levels: )
