{"id":27041,"date":"2020-12-09T11:49:49","date_gmt":"2020-12-09T10:49:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.edimentals.com\/blog\/?p=27041"},"modified":"2020-12-09T17:37:52","modified_gmt":"2020-12-09T16:37:52","slug":"autumn-and-winter-allium-shoots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.edimentals.com\/blog\/?p=27041","title":{"rendered":"Keeled garlic, a useful winter Allium and edimental in summer"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>There are <em>Allium<\/em> species that can be harvested year round in the garden, notably nodding onion \/ Norw:pr\u00e6riel\u00f8k (<em>Allium cernuum<\/em>) which I&#8217;ve blogged about before. In autumn, new shoots of <em>Allium carinatum subsp. pulchellum <\/em>(keeled garlic \/ Norw: rosenl\u00f8k) appear and with the mild weather we&#8217;ve been experiencing they&#8217;ve already reached about 20 cm high. They are hardy and can survive to at least -20C. It&#8217;s now in the autumn that this edimental <em>Allium<\/em> is most useful. carinatum, Allium senescens (or hybrid), Primula veris (cowslip \/ marian\u00f8kleblom), Alliaria petiolata (garlic mustard \/ l\u00f8kurt) and Taraxacum spp. (dandelion \/ l\u00f8vetann)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>There are two colour forms, pink and white which are particularly valuable as they last such a long time and are popular with pollinators:<\/p>\n<div
