{"id":22395,"date":"2019-06-01T08:42:22","date_gmt":"2019-06-01T06:42:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.edimentals.com\/blog\/?p=22395"},"modified":"2019-06-01T08:42:50","modified_gmt":"2019-06-01T06:42:50","slug":"pine-flowering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.edimentals.com\/blog\/?p=22395","title":{"rendered":"Pine flowering"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The only pine tree in the garden, Scots or Norwegian Pine (<em>Pinus sylvestris<\/em>)\u00a0 is in full flower at the moment!\u00a0 I posted a couple of films of siskins feeding on the cones the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.edimentals.com\/blog\/?p=22252\">other week.<\/a><br \/>\nThis tree was probably not much taller than me when we moved here in 1984. 35 years on and it&#8217;s approaching the height of the mature birch trees nearby.<br \/>\nPictures below of the small red female flowers at the tips of shoots and the more obvious clusters of male flowers\u00a0 which are laden with pollen.
