{"id":10316,"date":"2017-03-23T16:08:27","date_gmt":"2017-03-23T15:08:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.edimentals.com\/blog\/?p=10316"},"modified":"2020-12-14T19:48:40","modified_gmt":"2020-12-14T18:48:40","slug":"10316","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.edimentals.com\/blog\/?p=10316","title":{"rendered":"Forced blanched Udo Baccalao"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Inspired by my visit in the spring to Tokyo\u2019s underground blanching of Udo (Aralia cordata), see\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.edimentals.com\/blog\/?p=8299\">http:\/\/www.edimentals.com\/blog\/?p=8299<\/a>, I dug up a couple of roots in the autumn for indoors forcing. \u00a0I kept\u00a0them cold in the cellar until about a month ago and then progressively moving \u00a0them first to a cool room at about 10C and then the living room at about 18C when I&#8217;m at home \u00a0(about the same temperature as down the Udo underground forcing caverns!)<br \/>\nI used them both in salads and also in a mixed vegetable baccalao dish.
