We are celebrating my Dad’s 90th birthday this weekend near High Wycombe! Here’s some pictures of Dad in his edible garden in Chandlers Ford , Hampshire! \u00a0He started growing vegetables during the last world war in Eastleigh, Hampshire. He remembers growing two of my favourite (tasty) potatoes – Sharpes Express and King Edward on what is now the recreation ground in Derby Rd., Eastleigh in the 1940s! \u00a0 When I was growing up in Eastleigh (later Chandlers Ford), we always had some fresh greens and fruit from the garden. Dad was a carpenter \/ joiner all his life, but started writing about local history on his retirement.
\nHe wrote amongst others\u00a0\u00a0“<\/em>1630 and 1693 Rentals of Bishops Waltham Manors with 1550 Bursledon 1550 Bitterne and Weston 1573 Ashton part 2 and 3″\u00a0http:\/\/tinyurl.com\/nb654tx<\/em>, \u00a0<\/em><\/span>“<\/span>Not Only North Stoneham But Also” \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

He even \u00a0learned medieval latin and translated a medieval pipe roll, published in 1998: \u00a0https:\/\/books.google.co.uk\/books\/about\/1208_9_Pipe_Roll_of_the_Bishopric_of_Win.html?id=uiFhAAAACAAJ&hl=no<\/a><\/p>\n

He also became an artist as a pensioner and painted many old local houses!<\/p>\n
